We are looking for empathetic, adaptable Part Time & Casual Support Workers across our 24/7 Supported Independent Living (SIL) program in the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West & Southern Sydney, to support our residents to build capacity & develop voice, choice, control & independence.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our SIL program provides 24/7 residential support for people who have complex mental health, a psychosocial disability, an intellectual disability and/or physical health needs. Our Support Workers actively engage the people we support in their daily living, building their capacity & independence, providing stability & supporting them with their recovery journey.

We currently have Part Time & Casual opportunities across our sites in the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West & Southern Sydney, with regular shift patterns available on weekdays, including short day shifts and sleepover shifts. Starting remuneration based on relevant skills, qualifications and experience in line with Level 2 SCHADS Award, plus leave loading, superannuation & salary packaging. Responsibilities:

  • Actively engaging the people we support to build their capacity, routine, social skills & independent living skills, through assisting them with daily activities (e.g. community access, domestic, health, social)
  • Building rapport and managing challenging behaviours by following established plans & goals
  • Providing support to attend regular meetings with case managers and health professionals
  • Writing accurate, factual case notes to support clear communication and recording them using the online ICLA client management system
  • Enabling the social inclusion of ICLA clients in the community
  • Maintaining infection control measures and adapting to evolving requirements.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Criteria:

  • Emotional intelligence & observational skills, along with compassion, empathy & enthusiasm
  • Adaptability, a growth mindset & a willingness to engage in continuous learning and improvement
  • Commitment to quality, reliability, clear professional boundaries & a job well done
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work towards a planned goal with initiative and creative thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including rapport building
  • Ability to work within a team & independently
  • Right to work in Australia
  • A current driver's license and confidence driving in Sydney
  • Current NDIS Check or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
  • Your own smartphone/device to access our apps for managing work information (training will be provided)

Desirable:

  • Experience applying person-centred, trauma informed & active support frameworks
  • Experience working in a residential care environment
  • Experience supporting people who have complex mental health &/or psychosocial disabilities
  • Relevant qualifications in mental health, community services or disability support
