Established in 2006, ICTV is the television broadcaster of choice in remote Indigenous Australia. We produce and broadcast TV programs and campaigns for and by remote Indigenous Australians, including at least 50% of content in Indigenous languages.

As an Indigenous-controlled organisation with 80% Indigenous staff, we are deeply connected to the communities we serve, providing culturally relevant content for the benefit people living in remote communities across Australia.

Mission

ICTV supports a strong media community in remote Indigenous communities. ICTV grows audience and programming for Indigenous Australians in remote communities and the wider national population.

Purpose

To improve the lives of Indigenous Australians, especially those living in remote areas, through access to cultural and community video content.

We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take ownership and make a real impact.

In line with the 2024-2027 ICTV Strategic Plan and 2024-2027 Business Plan, you will use your understanding of business development, sales, and marketing to support the growth of revenue for ICTV.

Position Summary

Market research

  • Review pricing – airtime, TVC production, licencing, sponsorship
  • Impact data to demonstrate ROI

Marketing

  • Re-establish ICTV's Content Management Systems
  • Review and update collateral in line with branding strategy
  • Develop recognition/thank you for philanthropic and other funding

Sales

  • Increased airtime sales (campaigns)
  • Increased production sales (campaigns and programs)
  • Increased non-government and philanthropic funding.
  • FRAIM sponsorship

Product / services development

  • Research and market testing for diversified products and services e.g.
    • Banner advertising on ICTV Play
    • Social media campaigns

Duties

Business Development

  • Collaborate with General Manager to develop and implement business development strategies as per the ICTV Business Plan.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders to retain and develop existing client base.
  • Develop new customer relationships.
  • Prepare client proposals articulating the benefits of ICTV and its products.
  • Source and secure new supporters and funding bodies.
  • Identify and implement sales and marketing strategies.
  • Proactively seek sales leads and opportunities with corporate and government clients with an interest in remote Indigenous communities in NT, WA, QLD and SA, including health, legal, education, etc.
  • Deliver sales targets and revenue for:
    • Increased airtime sales (campaigns)
    • Increased production sales
    • Increased non-government and philanthropic funding
    • FRAIM sponsorship
  • Monitor rates and amend annually to take into account industry standards and CPI adjustments and ensure all digital and paper collateral is up to date.

Programming & Production

Work closely with senior management to:

  • Manage existing pipeline and increase sales
  • Explore and include additional products and services.

Other

  • Attend industry forums or community events at the request of the General Manager
  • Attend training, as requested
  • Work closely with other ICTV staff
  • Other duties as requested by the General Manager

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  • A proven track record of success in business development, sales, fundraising and donor relationship management.
  • Experience in conducting market research, incl. secret shopper, surveys, etc.
  • Sales experience, incl. contacting potential clients by phone and in person (meetings).
  • Sound business development and negotiation skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritise.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of the issues facing Indigenous Australians especially those living in remote areas.

Desirable

  • Established connections and networks in the philanthropic sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the broadcast industry, including the role of media agencies and advertisers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the community broadcasting sector.
