ID. Know Yourself is an Aboriginal led non-for-profit that was founded by Isaiah Dawe in 2019 who has had firsthand experience growing up in the foster system. The aim is to fill the gaps for our young people aged 7-16 years old by providing love, consistency and holistic support that gives young people living in out of home care the chance to establish belonging, purpose and empowerment.

Our program delivers group sessions and mentoring support to Aboriginal children aged 7-16 years old who have been impacted by cultural dispossession, systematic disadvantage, and complex trauma.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic General Manager to take on a newly created hands-on leadership role.

As General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation and will report directly to the Chief Executive Offer and Board of Directors.

ABOUT YOU

Desirable knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A proven understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal peoples, their culture and communities
  • An understanding of the Australian not-for-profit sector
  • Ideal experience working in Education or with Youth
  • Strong knowledge and experience of social enterprise business and operational management
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and implementation skills with advanced problem-solving skills
  • A solid understand of not-for-profit income generation (fundraising, grants, social enterprise and emerging models)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal communication skills with the capability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Excellent relationship building capacity and the ability to relate well to people with diverse experience and backgrounds working across a wide range of functions and competencies
  • Ability to work autonomously without supervision
  • Experience aligning operational and individual work plans to organisational strategy
  • Strong working knowledge of Deputy and/or Xero and SharePoint

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification or degree
  • At least 3-5 years senior management experience (including finance, budgeting, compliance, people, IT systems, quality improvement, project management office)
