The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join our thriving community health organisation and work within a truly supportive and values-based culture and engaged workforce. The Community Engagement and Inclusion Lead will help AccessHC remove barriers to people accessing our services and improve community health and wellbeing. You will develop strong relationships both in the community and internally to partner on community engagement, reconciliation, diversity and inclusion. Fixed term to February 2025, with likely option for extension or permanent role.

About the role

The Community Engagement and Inclusion Lead will focus on the community engagement, reconciliation, diversity and inclusion portfolios. You will build relationships and work together with community, partners, and colleagues, to improve community wellbeing, increase diverse participation and opportunities for community to inform organisational decisions. Reporting to the Senior Manger Health Promotion and Engagement and based at Hawthorn, other sites, in community or flexibly as required.

What you will be doing

  • Build stronger relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, diverse communities and community leaders.
  • Champion AccessHC’s commitment to community engagement, reconciliation and inclusion.
  • Lead the organisation’s Community Engagement Framework, enable colleagues to embed engagement across all levels of the organisation and support Community Advisors on the Board Community Advisory Committee.
  • Project manage the AccessHC Reconciliation Action Plan and lead our commitment to truth, treaty and voice.
  • Support other diversity, inclusion and intersectionality initiatives across the organisation.

What you will bring

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Engagement, Community Development, Health Promotion, Arts (e.g. Indigenous Studies major) or other relevant discipline (or substantial experience)
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in Reconciliation, Community Engagement, Community Development, Health Promotion, Social Inclusion and Diversity or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to relate and work with people from diverse communities
  • Experience using community engagement frameworks (e.g. IAP2).
  • Demonstrated project management experience with community projects
  • Experience building strong working relationships to work in partnership with community members and local organisations
