About the role

The Volunteer Transport Coordinator role is integral in maintaining the quality and effectiveness of our volunteer transport program, making a significant impact on Access Health and community services. Reporting to the Ageing and Social Support Coordinator, you will oversee the AccessHC Volunteer Transport program which provides volunteer drivers to transport participants to clinical appointments, exercise, and social groups. Your responsibilities will include, coordinating the program and recruiting a pool of volunteer drivers and supporting and developing the program to meet community needs ensuring the program meets quality and funding requirements and serving as a driver when necessary.

The role will ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality standards in the delivery of the service and develop internal and external partnerships that extend the reach and quality of the program and play a leadership role in designing, delivering and leading the growth of the program.

What you will be doing

  • With the support of the Volunteer Coordinator, advertise for, and recruit, suitable volunteer drivers to ensure the program has sufficient drivers to meet the needs of the program
  • Roster available drivers to transport clients
  • Provide initial orientation for new drivers and ongoing support and resourcing for drivers, including professional development as required
  • Drive clients to appointments or group programs. AccessHC pool car may be available depending on transport roster and volunteer driver requirements
  • Drive AccessHC12 seater bus to transport clients to group programs or on outings around Greater Melbourne
  • Maintain updated and valid credentials in accordance with relevant legislation and industry requirements where applicable to the position

What you will bring

Key Selection Criteria

  • Relevant experience in welfare, community health, aged care or similar
  • Experience in working and liaising with volunteers or older adults
  • Experience in working and interacting with frail, aged or disabled clients who may come from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to be flexible, willing and able to take initiative and good at multi-tasking
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software
