The impact you will have in this role
The Fundraising Business Analyst is responsible for leading the design and documentation of business processes to ensure successful adoption and simplification of processes. This role will have a dedicated focus across the multi-faceted fundraising program to ensure effective operational processes and donor relationship management.
This critical position will work in close collaboration with business and technical stakeholders and external partners to analyse complex business problems and develop, document and recommend process solutions that will improve operational efficiency and optimise best practices across fundraising.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough analysis to identify operational and technical gaps, providing clear, actionable recommendations that may involve adjusting, refining, or redefining current practices
- Collaborate with the CRM Product Manager and Centre of Excellence to influence product roadmaps (both new and existing) and contribute to the development and prioritisation of the product backlog
- Partner with key stakeholders, including Fundraising Program Managers, to gather business requirements and translate them into detailed functional specifications
- Evaluate and document business processes to streamline operations, optimise current practices, and highlight opportunities for improvement
- Communicate process improvement priorities to stakeholders, managing expectations to ensure alignment between business goals and technical delivery
- Provide critical insights and interpretative guidance to support stakeholders in making informed decisions across the fundraising portfolio
- Conduct post-implementation evaluations to assess the success of changes, enhancements, and the realisation of intended benefits
- Assist in multiple projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive the seamless delivery of solutions while factoring in their impact on the broader organisation
- Prepare cost-benefit analyses and business cases to guide recommendations and prioritise improvements in donor lifecycle management, along with system enhancement initiatives
- Capture and document business challenges and requirements using user stories, enabling the development of effective process and system improvements
- Foster an understanding of related systems, processes, and teams within the VA ecosystem, keeping them informed of current priorities and developments in fundraising projects
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in a strategic Business Analyst role, ideally from within a fundraising setting, or similar sales/customer focused sector
- A background in optimising and enhancing complex business processes
- Proven critical thinking skills with the ability to simplify complex issues and effectively communicate solutions
- High level stakeholder management experience with strong influencing skills
- Professional certification in business analysis, such as CAP (Certified Analytics Professional), ECBA (IIBA Entry Certificate in Business Analysis), CCBA, or PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis)
- Practical experience using JIRA, Confluence, or comparable project and task management tools for documenting epics, user stories, and requirements
- Skilled in creating detailed and structured business and system requirements, user stories, process maps/flows, storyboards, and contributing to epics, iterative releases, and retrospectives
- Strong understanding of business objectives and a dedication to delivering high-quality, timely, and efficient services to stakeholders
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to deliver results within agreed deadlines, even under tight time constraints
- High levels of verbal and written communication skills, with experience engaging effectively with a range of stakeholders at all levels, including executives
