Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is the only independent, not-for-profit, comprehensive cancer centre in NSW. We offer every treatment and therapy a person with cancer may need, all under one roof.

Impact You Will Have in This Role

Reporting to the Community Fundraising Manager, you will be the driving force behind providing essential administrative and event support, all while building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with supporters.

Your role will be key in helping the organisation reach fundraising targets by nurturing and growing a dedicated community of fundraisers. You will work closely with both new and existing supporters, ensuring they are inspired, empowered, and equipped to achieve their best fundraising results.

We are seeking a natural communicator who is confident engaging with others over the phone, by email, and in person. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills, be detail-oriented with your documentation, and thrive as part of a small, highly collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

Community Fundraising Support:

  • Assist in expanding participation in fundraising events to increase income.
  • Collaborate with the Community Fundraising Team to ensure timely responses to inquiries and acknowledgment of fundraisers.
  • Provide marketing materials (guidelines, posters, logos, etc.) to support fundraising efforts.
  • Help with organising signature events and VIP/third-party fundraisers.
  • Follow up with fundraisers to encourage repeat support for the charity.

Supporter Relationship Management:

  • Maintain relationships with supporters across various communication channels (phone, email, face-to-face).
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve inquiries promptly.
  • Make outbound calls for specific fundraising initiatives.

CRM & Website Support:

  • Accurately update fundraiser information in the CRM database and assist with creating online fundraising pages.
  • Support with data entry and conversation notes.

General Duties:

  • Collaborate with the team to improve fundraising processes and materials.
  • Assist with organising and attending fundraising events, including some out-of-hours work.
  • Provide administrative support to the Development team during busy periods.
  • Continue learning about best practices in non-profit fundraising.

Key Skills

  • Previous experience in community fundraising, supporter services, event management, or customer service.
  • Strong empathy and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and online fundraising platforms.
  • Experience with CRM databases (preferably Salesforce and Monday.com).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively with others.
