The Donor Development Manager plays a crucial role within the Fundraising team, focusing on developing and executing a comprehensive, multi-channel strategy for donor acquisition and growth across cash donations, raffles, and regular giving.

This position will enhance the lifetime value of donors and develop sustainable campaigns to grow the donor base for Assistance Dogs Australia.

Assistance Dogs Australia trains and places unique dogs with Australians in unique situations.

They train dogs that specialise in support for people with a physical disability, autism or PTSD, as well as providing a range of services to these individuals and their families.

Their free-to-client Assistance Dogs provide Independence, self-esteem, improved health and relationships to individuals and families – resulting in stronger and more successful communities.

Impact you will have in this role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, innovative, data driven and ambitious fundraiser to join this wonderful team on their journey to grow fundraising across all programs.

Reporting into a brilliant fundraising leader, you will utilise your diverse acquisition experience to oversee comprehensive campaign management for both single and regular giving across various channels, such as direct mail, raffles, digital platforms, and phone outreach.

As a key member of the integrated Fundraising and Marketing team, the Donor Development Manager will drive fundraising goals by engaging and inspiring donors, fostering a deeper connection with the organisation, and demonstrating the tangible impact of their contributions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an annual fundraising appeals strategy to lift the average donation and enhance the long-term value of current supporters
  • Develop and execute a donor acquisition strategy to recruit and develop cash, raffles and regular donors across a diversified and robust program including digital, telephone and direct mail
  • Establish and execute onboarding and welcome communication journeys for new cash, raffle, gifts-in-honor, and recurring donors
  • Oversee daily operations of the raffle programs, continuously seeking opportunities to improve effectiveness and maximise return on investment
  • Identify potential high-value donors or bequest prospects, and strategise their conversion to major donors or bequests
  • Effectively manage relationships with suppliers and agencies to ensure appeals and campaigns are delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of each campaign, applying key insights to future initiatives, and perform comprehensive campaign analysis to drive ongoing improvement
  • Work collaboratively with the retention team and broader fundraising team to develop a robust single and regular giving program
  • Line management of one person with the ability to develop the acquisition team
  • Contribute to annual strategic planning, budgeting, and related organisational activities

Skills and Experience

  • Proven expertise in multi-channel acquisition across single and regular giving with experience developing and executing direct marketing strategies
  • Digital capabilities and the ability to drive innovative digital fundraising strategies and tactics to grow programs
  • Demonstrated experience in segmentation and campaign development
  • Data driven with experience in utilising data to make informed decision, reporting back on performance and developing programs
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP CRM and digital fundraising platforms/systems, ideally Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Ability to people manage with a nurturing, collaborative and supportive style
  • A passion for the impact an assistance animal has on people with mobility needs, autism or post-traumatic stress
