Melbourne Legacy is a for purpose organisation which provides tailored and personalised support and services to the families of veterans who have given their lives or their mental or physical health in service to our country.

In responding to the needs of families of veterans since 1923, Melbourne Legacy, in conjunction with the network of Legacy Clubs throughout Australia, stands proudly as the only ex-service organisation in Australia dedicated solely to the care of the family of the veteran.

The range of services provided by Melbourne Legacy is diverse with the individual needs of the families of veterans being met through professional case management, referral pathways, wellbeing, financial assistance, advocacy and personalised care delivered through a network of dedicated volunteers known as Legatees who are supported by a team of social workers and mental health professionals.

Impact you will have in this role

The Fundraising and Marketing Manager is a key strategic leadership opportunity responsible for leading the success of all fundraising activities and ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of Melbourne Legacy's impactful programs and services.

This is an opportunity for you to build and develop your team responsible for the execution of a robust fundraising strategy that has been newly developed by the expert team at Donor Republic.

You will be supported by your partnership with Donor Republic on your success journey to shape and execute the strategy and apply fundraising principles across key programs that include appeals, partnerships with major donors and corporates, grants, events and community, and a flourishing gift in wills program.

We are searching for an innovative, dynamic and passionate fundraising professional who is dedicated to leading this exciting journey of growth and donor engagement that will directly support vital programs dedicated to empowering families of veterans to build their best future.

We are looking for a nurturing leader who excels in mentoring, coaching, and training staff at both early-career stage and those with more experience, empowering them to achieve their full potential and contribute effectively to the team

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and inspire a team across fundraising and marketing to meet fundraising goals and objectives
  • Bring the fundraising strategy to life by creating sustainable actionable initiatives to maximise revenue and donor engagement across appeals, partnerships with major donors and corporates, grants, events and community initiatives, gifts in wills and all donor communication
  • Manage the fundraising budget, ensuring resources are allocated to activities that generate the highest return on investment, and meet all income and expenditure targets
  • Lead the success of the donor journey across multiple channels while building and promoting high-touch relationships and engagement activities with donors, supporters, partners, and stakeholders
  • Oversee all marketing, digital strategies and communication plans
  • Make data-driven decisions and provide regular reports on fundraising performance and financial tracking
  • Work closely with the service delivery team to create cases for support that enrich the organisations impact
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO, Board, COO, Donor Republic and the wider team to ensure the success of the fundraising program and team directly impacting life-changing programs to veterans and their families

Skills and Experience

  • Proven success at a senior level leading, creating and implementing successful fundraising initiatives to grow fundraising income across core giving areas that include mass fundraising, relationship fundraising and event and community programs
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and train staff of all experience levels, fostering their growth and development within the organisation
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to positively influence others
  • Strong ability to make data-driven decisions and the ability to communicate insights accordingly
  • Excellent budget management and development experience, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative manner and the ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen enriching partnerships internally and externally to promote continuous improvement
  • Dedication to create successful fundraising initiatives to empower families of eligible veterans to build their best future
