Rural Aid is Australia’s most trusted rural charity. They were founded in 2015 on the back of the very successful “Buy a Bale” drought fundraising campaign of 2013. Funded by donations, their charity provides support and assistance to farmers and rural communities during times of natural disasters and actively supports the long-term sustainability of the agriculture sector - their Mates in the Bush’

Rural Aid’s vision is that farming and rural communities are safeguarded to ensure their sustainability during and after natural disasters. Their mission is to provide economic and empathetic support and assistance to rural communities impacted by natural disaster, through partnering with key stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Rural Aid promises to ensure donors’ money is used transparently to provide effective and timely assistance to those most in need.

Impact you will have in this role

This is an exciting opportunity for you to bring your digital fundraising experience to “step up” into a leadership opportunity.

You will have the ability to bring your proven success, initiative and creativity to shape and implement the strategy, creative development, production, and evaluation of all digital campaigns focusing on single giving and regular giving, with the influence to also shape the wider donor journey across other fundraising channels.

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you will be supported to lead fundraising campaigns and initiatives that directly support farmers and rural communities.

  • Develop and drive strategies to acquire, nurture, and retain regular and cash supporters across various channels, with a strong digital focus
  • Create, develop and deliver fundraising campaigns, taking the lead on creative, copy and implementation
  • Use analytics and insights from the supporter database to effectively manage and grow annual appeals, regular giving, and community fundraising efforts
  • Develop and implement supporter retention strategies to engage and retain supporters across all channels
  • Implement robust reporting and tracking tools to ensure success and communicate outcomes effectively
  • Manage income and expenditure budgets and forecasts for individual giving programs, making data-driven decisions
  • Work closely with marketing colleagues on broader fundraising and brand and marketing initiatives, establishing effective relationships with the broader Rural Aid team

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience across the acquisition and retention of supporters through appeals, regular giving and/or retention programs using multiple channels with a digital focus
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects with well-developed analytical, problem solving and data-driven decision-making skillset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and prioritise workflows, with experience in process management and project coordination
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and creativity to craft compelling fundraising communications
  • Ability to bring innovation and fundraising best practices into operation
  • Comprehensive understanding of supporter management databases & CRM software
  • A team player with can-do attitude and a proven track record of contributing to the successful achievement of an organisations key fundraising goals
  • A genuine passion for farmers and rural communities to help deliver Rural Aid’s vision: Farming and rural communities are safeguarded to ensure their sustainability before, during and after natural disasters
