Impact you will have in this role

The Planned Giving Manager oversees the planned giving initiatives and the team at Royal Flying Doctor Service, South Eastern Section. This critical role is responsible for developing and executing their comprehensive Planned Giving Strategy, which is a key part of the Fundraising Strategic Plan.

This position is both strategic and hands-on, requiring knowledge of best practice in Gifts in Wills fundraising, and relationship building across various communication channels. Maintaining brand integrity, raising awareness, managing projects, and collaborating with project and organisational stakeholders are also crucial for the role's success.

This role will work to ensure that current donors receive continuous high-level engagement, you will look at opportunities to expand the donor pipeline for future revenue growth, and you will manage relationships with confirmed bequestors. Additionally, the role will involve oversight of estate management and bequest estate administration, coordinating with external solicitors and relevant parties to advocate for RFDS SE's interests.

Managing a wonderful Planned Giving team, you will be a supportive and nurturing leader with a background in either Planned Giving or relationship based fundraising streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Planned Giving strategy, implementing a comprehensive multichannel growth plan aimed at generating new bequest leads and advancing prospects through the consideration stages
  • Manage budgets and monitoring of income, expenditure and KPIs for the Planned Giving team portfolio with detailed reporting and forecasting
  • Manage and maintain fundraising processes and program development to maximise fundraising opportunities
  • Lead on a strategic approach to prospect identification, conversion, and development with an entrepreneurial mindset to identify new opportunities
  • Ensure the execution and maintenance of processes and practices that uphold high-quality data for the programs, including pipeline management using Raisers Edge
  • Ensure that donor-centric multi-channel communication plans are delivered to the highest standard
  • Directly acquire, cultivate, solicit, thank and report to Gifts in Wills donors and their families
  • Facilitate and support all aspects of the development and management of relationships with the CEO and across the Executive Team to both existing and prospect Gifts in Wills donors
  • Integrate the Gifts in Wills program with health program development
  • Oversee bequest estate management, collaborating with executors, solicitors and trusts
  • Management of the Planned Giving team, keeping team members motivated and actively encouraging open communication and collaboration
  • Lead on a team culture of innovation, donor centricity and accountability
  • Provide continuous coaching and development opportunities for the team with a nurturing, supportive and ambitious leadership style

Skills and Experience

  • A background in Planned Giving or broader relationship based fundraising roles, with a proven record of success in donor engagement focused positions
  • Extensive experience nurturing donor relationships, ideally through Planned Giving experience
  • Strategic fundraising experience with the ability to develop and implement comprehensive multichannel growth plans
  • People management and leadership experience and the ability to support, motivate, develop and nurture teams
  • Ability to build relationships with broad stakeholder groups and manage complex projects across an organisation
  • Demonstrated success in strategically building donor pipelines with a background in designing and implementing stewardship plans and engaging journeys
  • Previous experience in budgeting, forecasting and program analysis
  • A data driven fundraiser with the ability to make data informed decisions and integrate data into program activity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment and passion for the mission, vision and values of the Royal Flying Doctor Service
