The Communications and Media Manager role has become available after internal movements because of Inclusion Australia's increased focus on larger and more impactful projects.

This is a fully remote role, open to you wherever you live in Australia.

The role can be part time (0.8FTE) or full time: 30 to 38 hours per week.

You can choose your working hours between 7.30am and 6pm your local time.

Purpose of this role

The Communications and Media Manager will steer our communications work collaboratively to foster change and promote inclusivity. You will nurture relationships with journalists, our members, and our broader community, and increase the public voice of people with an intellectual disability and their families.

What you will do

Communications and Media:

  • You will support and advise the executive team to manage and respond to media.
  • You will establish and execute a media engagement strategy and a communications strategy, and execute strategic communications campaigns, measuring their impact.

Building strong relationships:

  • You will leverage and build your established relationships with journalists to increase Inclusion Australia’s supporter base, amplify our message and broaden our impact across Australia.

Managing a team:

  • You will contribute to our management team and oversee the communications team.
  • You will delegate work appropriately to make the most of people’s strengths, accommodate individual working requirements.

Supporting broader IA work:

  • You will collaborate with IA colleagues, and provide advice on communications across all IA teams to encourage consistent voice and messaging.
  • You will collaborate on resource development and communications for IA projects.

Who we’re looking for

  • You have worked for three or more years in a similar role (maybe with a similar organisation)
  • You have experience in developing communications and media strategies, turning ideas into reality and then measuring their impact
  • You have experience generating media coverage through media releases and other channels
  • You have experience in the creation of Easy Read communications
  • You have experience successfully leading and motivating one or more people
  • You must have a police record check before starting the role, and hold current valid employment Working with Children Check at all times
  • It would be an advantage if you have a tertiary qualification in within media relations, public relations, communications, or a related field.
