Established in 2016, CPRC has been at the forefront of identifying and undertaking timely and evidence-based consumer research and advocacy.

CPRC’s work is a catalyst for insights and serves as critical intelligence to shape better regulatory and policy decisions that prioritise the interests of all Australians, particularly people who are vulnerable.

CPRC brings together leading experts, and works with regulators, policymakers, businesses, academics, and community advocates. CPRC’s work plays a key role in ensuring the views of consumers are represented and extends beyond data and into tangible positive change.
There is now an opportunity to join the CPRC Board of Directors and be part of realising this mission.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a CPRC Director you will play an integral part, shaping the strategic evolution, addressing challenges, and contributing to the development, and expansion of Australia’s leading consumer policy think tank.

This dynamic role invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from candidates with relevant experience and qualifications who are eager to make real impact.

ABOUT THE BOARD

The board of CPRC is comprised of directors with deep and varying experience from for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. The Board provides governance, risk management, and strategic leadership to the organisation and invites and encourages a diverse and inclusive perspective from each board director.

Board Directors’ duties include:

  • adherence to and execution of their duties as Directors under the Corporations Act and the CPRC Constitution;
  • attendance and active participation in scheduled meetings;
  • staying informed about the matters of the organisation;
  • using their own skills, experience, and knowledge to support the organisation; and
  • ensuring that the organisation’s activities further its purpose.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE

Applicants for the role will be shortlisted based on high-level skills, experience, and knowledge in relation to the following criteria.

  • Previous experience in managing complex meetings, ensuring strong time management skills and the ability to develop rapport with Board directors facilitating robust and respectful conversations;
  • Knowledge of the consumer affairs and policy environment or interest in this area;
  • Demonstrated accountability, integrity, and honesty;
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and planning.

Essentials skills and experience

  • Demonstrated and contemporary experience and expertise in fundraising; or
  • Demonstrated and contemporary experience and expertise in the stakeholder relations, specifically with state and territory fair trading departments;
  • Accounting qualifications and/or experience with finance at a governance level.
