Ipswich Kindergarten is set in the beautiful surrounds of Queens Park. Established in 1937 our Centre provides a unique opportunity for children to engage in play-based learning in an extensive natural setting. Our Centre has a proud history of tradition and close ties between the home, kindergarten and the Ipswich community. We have an excellent reputation in the community for providing a high-quality play-based kindergarten program and are rated as “Exceeding” the National Quality Standards. We are a non-profit community kindergarten and are affiliated with Lady Gowrie QLD.

A rare opportunity has become available for a Director/Teacher to join our amazing team in a permanent full-time position starting on 13th January 2025. We are a double unit centre, which operates a Monday/Tuesday and a Thursday/Friday Kindergarten program. Our session times are 8.15am to 3.45pm.

About the Role

This is a permanent full time Director/Teacher position. You will work a 9-day fortnight, teaching Monday and Tuesday with 4 days a fortnight for non-contact work. Wednesdays are designated for staff meetings, team building and professional development with each alternate one being your day off.

In this role you will be working alongside a long standing and experienced team of teachers and educators who are passionate about early childhood education and providing a warm, secure, inclusive and high-quality learning environment for all children as they start their learning journey. You will work closely with the Educational Leader in their role and the Administration Manager who will support you in your role. There will be a handover with our outgoing Director/Teacher.

About You

For this position we are looking for an individual who is passionate about early years education, community kindergarten and creating an inclusive experience for all children and their families.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to demonstrate their experience as a Director and be well-versed in their understanding and application of the NQF, NQS, EYLF V2.0 and the QKLG. You will have experience and success with the Assessment and Ratings process.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in leading a team of teachers and educators and the ability and desire to work with alongside them to support the needs of the children and families in the Centre’s care.
  • Demonstrate experience in developing and fostering positive relationships with parents and guardians, community networks, schools and allied health professionals.
  • Be passionate about play-based learning and demonstrate their ability to provide high-quality, authentic and stimulating learning programs and environments that enhance children’s learning and development. You will have a strong understanding of the EYLF V2.0 and the QKLG and demonstrate the application of these in their planning for and documentation and assessment of children’s learning and development.
  • Be committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practices.
  • Have high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

You will have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (must be recognised by ACECQA)
  • Queensland College of Teacher Registration or be eligible for Teacher Registration in Queensland
  • Experience as a Director of a Kindergarten
  • Recognised First Aid, CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification
  • Blue Card or Exemption Card
  • Child Protection Training or willingness to undertake training prior to commencement
