The Opportunity

An exciting growth opportunity within the School Readiness program is seeking talented Psychologist to support our kindergartens’ learning and development outcomes.

In this rewarding and unique role, you will gain exposure to a new way of working within the allied health and early years sector. This role provides opportunity for a Psychologist, with skills and interest in supporting early years educators and families, to contribute to improving developmental and educational outcomes for children.

School Readiness Funding (SRF) aims to support the learning and development of children accessing kindergarten programs, to address educational disadvantage through capacity-building activities.

As the dedicated health professional for eligible kindergartens, you will apply your clinical expertise to provide best practice allied health support through capacity building, coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation and other discipline specific services. This role services the Brimbank and Melton LGAs where you will travel to kindergartens onsite to provide service delivery.

Within the program, allied health professionals work in collaboration with educators and families, with the goal of improving outcomes for children in one or more of the three School Readiness Funding priority areas:

  • Communication (language development)
  • Wellbeing (social and emotional)
  • Access and inclusion

You will be part of a cohesive and supportive multidisciplinary team with access to high quality clinical supervision and paid professional development programs such as Hanen.

The available opportunity:

  • Psychologist - 0.6FTE Part Time Fixed Term until December 2025 (Parental Leave Cover), Grade 2 Year 1 – 5 classification offering $94,813 - $108,666 (Pro Rata Part Time) under the Psychologists, Dieticians, Audiologists And Pharmacists (Victorian Stand-Alone Community Health Services) Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026

You will make a difference by

  • Working collaboratively with the School Readiness Funding Allied Health Team to plan service delivery within kindergarten programs across the Brimbank and Melton areas.
  • Building the capability of educators and families through coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation support and other discipline specific services
  • Provide allied health support to kindergarten educators, families and communities, to achieve their goals in relation to the communication and wellbeing of children.
  • Reflecting and evaluating supports to enhance outcomes.

To succeed you will need:

Essential Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in Psychology.
  • Experience working at a Grade 2 level in paediatric allied health. Experience working in a kindergarten setting is an advantage.
  • Current and valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check and Driver’s Licence.

Desirable Capabilities:

  • Experience working in a capability building and coaching role with educators or families, to promote skills and knowledge in child development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based programs that meet the communication and wellbeing goals for children, families, and educators.
  • Highly developed communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and interest to work within the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
