The Opportunity

The Health Promotion Team use a population-based preventative approach to address the risk factors and social determinants of health leading to the high burden of chronic disease in the local government areas (LGA’s) of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham, located in Melbourne’s west. We align our strategies that create a healthy, safe and inclusive community.

We aim to understand and address local priorities across a wide range of community settings. Where possible, projects are developed in consultation with the community partners.

This position makes a key contribution to the Healthy Eating priority set out in IPC Health’s Community Health – Health Promotion Plan and will be responsible for implementing the Vic Kids Eat Well Project, along with other local initiatives.

Day to day tasks include:

  • Planning, implementation and evaluation of healthy eating projects.
  • Development of and delivery of presentations and community resources.
  • Development of other documentation such as briefs and agendas
  • Engage and work closely with local stakeholders to achieve healthy eating outcomes

This opportunity is flexible to consider Part Time or Full Time with a minimumcommitment of 0.6FTE (3 days). The role is a Fixed Term (Special Project) opportunity until 30th November 2025 and is classified as a Social and Community Services Employee salaried at between Level 3 to Level 4 under the Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022, depending on level of experience.

You will make a difference by

  • Overseeing the delivery of the Healthy Eating portfolio, working on the Achievement Program, Vic Kids Eat Well program and other local programs to improve fruit and vegetable consumption in the community
  • You will deliver effective and sustainable health promotion projects with community partners that achieve healthy eating outcomes in the population.

To succeed you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health or Nutrition.
  • A strong understanding of health promotion theory
  • A strong understanding of population healthy eating initiatives and nutrition
  • Relevant experience working with diverse populations

Desirable:

  • A strong understanding of and experience implementing the Victorian Kids Eat Well Program (VKEW)
