ISN Psychology is seeking to appoint new members to their Human Research Ethics Committee. As a member of the ISN Psychology Human Research Ethics Committee, you will assist the institute in protecting the rights and welfare of research participants and promote the ethical conduct of research that is of benefit to the community. Committee members are required to review research proposals according to the ethical principles and values set out in the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.
All committee members are equally valued, and members should feel comfortable and confident in voicing any concerns in relation to the research proposals. Committee meetings are collegial, and their function is to bring together all members’ views on the ethical implications of human research.
Committee members are appointed for a term of 3 years, which can be renewed. Members must be able to attend scheduled meetings regularly. The committee meets eight times per year. Additional meetings may be scheduled in the future but will not exceed one meeting per month. All meetings are held online via WebEX and last for 2-3 hours. Members should expect to spend several hours preparing for each meeting by reading and reviewing ethics applications.
Appointed members will receive online training and a modest honorarium as compensation for their time.
