About the role

We are looking for a new graduate worker (Trainee) to support women, children and young people living in the LGA of Georges River who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence. Whilst the service is based at Summer Hill, support will be offered as an outreach and will include providing specialist counselling, complex case management, risk assessments, home visiting, practical support and transport. Working within a multidisciplinary team with Social Workers and Early Childhood teachers, you will be part of a team delivering quality outcomes for its clients aligned to Jannawi's Vision, Purpose, and Values. You will be responsible for ensuring families are supported to safety, healing and recovery from trauma.

35 hrs per week on a 2-year contract, ending 30 June 2026. SCHADS Award 3.3

Essential Criteria - Trainee

  • Current enrolment in a tertiary qualification or within 2 years of completion. This may include Counselling, Welfare, Community Services or Social Work qualifications.
  • An interest in obtaining knowledge (or have some experience) in working with people who have experienced interpersonal violence such as child abuse (including neglect), domestic, family and sexual violence.
  • Understanding of basic counselling skills applicable to working with vulnerable people.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • An understanding of the range of issues involved in working with individuals from CALD backgrounds.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check.
