Primary Purpose of Job:

Jewish Care’s Disability Services provide an individualised, person-centered active support service model of community-based support to people with disabilities. The Coppel and Piekarski Family Respite Centre offers short-term accommodation in a contemporary facility for children aged 6-17 years and adults aged 18-64 years with disabilities, including those with complex needs.

The Senior Team Leader position provides senior management and leadership to the delivery of high-quality and contemporary facility-based respite support and life skills development services to people with disabilities. This role ensures the promotion of client participation and empowerment in all relevant program activities, participation in personal decision-making, dignity and respect, relationship building, and skill development.

 About the role:

  • Lead the efficient running of the Disability Respite Centre offering Short Term Accommodation to adults and children with disabilities.
  • Ensure effective respite program operations in line with relevant legislation and good practice guidelines.
  • Having an oversight of client booking and intake processes.
  • Maintain staff rosters to meet program needs, matching staff competencies to client needs.
  • Lead governance of respite centres, communicating improvements to managers.
  • Manage funding requests to ensure NDIS funds are available for service.
  • Provide high-quality, tailored advice to participants navigating the NDIS.
  • Implement and facilitate a marketing strategy to promote program growth across stakeholders.
  • Prepare required plans, reports, business cases, and evaluations, including monthly data reports.
  • Maintain and adjust annual workforce resource plans as needed. 

About you:

  • Ability to manage work schedules effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to support clients according to their individual needs and preferences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High degree of initiative, ability to work autonomously with a strong solution-focus.
  • Strong drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • Degree in disability services or equivalent with 2 years of experience, or associated diploma in Disability work with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proficient in person-centred active support approaches, NDIS principles, and National Disability Service Standards.
  • Specialised knowledge in complex disability needs and experience working with children.

 Pre-Requisites

  • NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
  • Australian Police Check.
  • International Police Check (where relevant).
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Commitment to providing safe services to all residents and clients, including children and young people.
  • Commitment to creating a safe environment free of abuse, neglect, violence, and preventable injury.
  • Unrestricted right to work in Australia (Visa evidence required).
  • Three COVID-19 vaccinations.
