Position Overview

• Prison-based role predominantly at Langi Kal Kal Prison, Trawalla with occasional work at Hopkins Correctional Centre, Ararat.
• 4 days per week (0.8 EFT) – 12 month contract beginning 1 July 2021 at a values-driven organisation.

About VACRO

VACRO is an independent non-profit organisation working with people caught in the criminal justice system and their families. Founded in 1872, we are Victoria’s oldest and only specialised criminal justice reintegration service. We provide reintegration, family, and employment support that enables people to create new beginnings for themselves and their families.

The Opportunity

Working within correctional facilities, you will support clients with diverse and complex needs nearing their exit from prison as well as plan and facilitate small group and individual sessions designed to support reintegration. An ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships coupled with timely recording of data will be essential to your success in this role. Clients may include female prisoners, Serious Violent or Sex Offender (SVoSO) prisoners and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners.

Key Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or other relevant field.
• Experience working with high risk, complex clients.
• Group facilitation skills.
• Organised and able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to accurately and promptly record activities in database.
• Sound level of MS Office including Excel, Client Management Systems and internet capability.
