About Vacro

Vacro is an independent non-profit organisation working with people caught in the criminal justice system and their families. Founded in 1872, we are Victoria’s oldest and only specialised criminal justice reintegration service. We provide reintegration, family, and employment support that enables people to create new beginnings for themselves and their families.

We value the expertise of people from a wide range of backgrounds. Because of the work we do, we especially value the expertise of First Nations people, people with lived experience of the criminal justice system, and people of diverse cultural backgrounds and identities. We also welcome applications from people with a criminal record. (We do not discriminate based on a person’s criminal record, however in some circumstances, contractual or legislative obligations may limit a person’s eligibility for certain roles. We are happy to have a confidential discussion about how these requirements may affect a candidate).

About the Role

The ReLink program is a component of the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway (CVRP) and helps individuals in prison prepare for their release and transition into the community.

We are currently recruiting for two ReLink Reintegration Coordinators at Fulham Correctional Centre. Both full time and part time FTE will be considered for the successful candidates. The role involves assisting program participants with diverse and complex needs and is based on site at Fulham Correctional Centre. You will be organising and conducting both small group and individual sessions to support participants’ reintegration, and your success in this role will depend on your ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships while accurately documenting program activity electronically in a timely manner.

The role of a ReLink Reintegration Coordinator requires the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working with complex clients, particularly those with involvement in the criminal justice system.
  • Experience supporting clients with conditions like drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness, mental health disorders, unemployment, and disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to establish trusting working connections with stakeholders, clients, and coworkers.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess and respond to complex client needs.
  • Sound level of MS Office, database, computer and internet skills.

If you are looking to join a committed team making a powerful difference in the lives of people in prison, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate must be able to provide a birth certificate or passport for prison clearance purposes.
