The Opportunity:

The Family Based Care (FBC) Practice Lead is a vital role within Junction's Family Based Care team. This position enhances foster carers’ capacity to meet the needs of children and young people in placement by leading formal trauma-responsive trainings. The role provides clinical consultation, supervision, support, and practice development for FBC staff, ensuring quality assurance through clinical advice on service delivery improvements. Working closely with leadership, the FBC Practice Lead ensures high-quality, trauma-informed services to carers and children based on best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empower and train a dedicated team of FBC staff and foster carers, leading them with innovative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Navigate and manage complex cases with professionalism and insight, providing expert guidance and co-working where necessary.
  • Craft and oversee the implementation of personalised, culturally sensitive care plans that truly resonate with the needs of children and young people.
  • Champion continuous improvement by steering research initiatives, shaping policy development, and evaluating programs to adapt and thrive.
  • Ensure our practices comply with rigorous standards and regulations, embodying excellence in every facet of your work.

We are seeking a person who:

  • Provide timely, evidence-based supervision and support to FBC assessors and case managers, ensuring high-quality clinical and trauma-responsive practices.
  • Offer guidance on complex cases and carer assessments, assisting case managers with planning, report writing, and care team meetings.
  • Help formulate and maintain personalised carer support and developmental care plans tailored to individual needs and cultural backgrounds.
  • Participate in developing and delivering trauma training and therapeutic approaches for staff and carers, continuously measuring and improving intervention effectiveness.
  • Chair high complexity case conferences and attend court hearings as needed, providing comprehensive foster carer assessments.
  • Ensure timely client home visits, carer agreements, reviews, and training completion in line with program KPIs and licensing requirements. Maintain a safe work environment by reporting incidents and hazards.
  • Contribute to policy development through research and collaboration with individuals with lived experience, supporting responsive and high-quality clinical practice.
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes and proper file storage per legislative requirements and organizational policies. Assist with program evaluation to support development and design.

You Will Need To:

  • Complete our online application process

  • Hold or are willing to obtain a current Safe Environments Certificate
  • Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
  • Undertake rostered on-call responsibilities as needed
  • Willing to work occasional flexible hours to meet operational requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or equivalent relevant field
