The Opportunity

If so, here is a perfect opportunity to join our team as Residential Youth Worker in our PaSP (Program and Support Package) Program.

Junction is seeking future talent to be part of the PaSP program which is expanding and looking for people who are committed to making an impact in the lives of young people by providing round-the-clock support and guidance. We have casual opportunities in Blakeview and Mt Barker location.

The best part of this role is that each day is different, and it gives you the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of those under your care by creating a strong sense of home, assisting them in developing social and living skills and celebrating their successes along the way.

You will get to plan daily activities, working closely with clients, while also liaising with government and non-government agencies as well as members of the community to advocate for continued access and support for activities and services.

A day in this role may include:

  • Guiding and inspiring client participation through a diverse range of educational and recreational activities to enhance their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development
  • Producing accurate and insightful case notes, interaction records, log entries, Client Incident Reports, and plans
  • Maintaining the living environment (house) in a clean and hygienic manner, fostering a safe and comfortable space
  • Planning and preparing meals for children and young people in line with healthy food choices and safe food-handling requirements
  • Establish and maintain rapport with residents, creating a safe and supportive environment

About you

We are seeking a highly passionate professional who:

  • Holds a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Has demonstrated experience in working with children and adolescents at risk
  • Has an understanding of social justice principles- including equity of access, discrimination and equal opportunities
  • Has the ability to work across 24/7 roster and undertake active night shifts
  • Has sound interpersonal skills to effectively engage and establish rapport with clients, staff, and external agencies
  • Has the ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work independently

You will need to

  • Complete our online application process
  • Undergo pre-employment testing as part of the recruitment process which will include psychological assessments
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Hold a current Safe Environments Certificate
  • Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
  • Be prepared to undertake Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Non- Violent Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of commencing with Junction
