About Us:
Just Reinvest NSW (JRNSW) is an Aboriginal-led organisation dedicated to reducing the overrepresentation of Aboriginal people in the criminal justice system.
We advocate for justice reinvestment: redirecting resources from punitive criminal justice systems toward community-led initiatives that address root causes.
Our work is grounded in collaboration with Aboriginal communities, ensuring solutions are driven by local priorities and cultural knowledge. By fostering opportunities for systemic change, we aim to create safer and more empowered communities across NSW.
The Role:
As part of our passionate and driven Data and Research team, you will report into a supportive Data and Research Manager.
This role is pivotal in transforming complex datasets into clear, engaging, and impactful visualisations that support our justice reinvestment initiatives and community-led advocacy.
Engaging with various stakeholders across communities, government, justice and philanthropic partnerships, your work will contribute to meaningful initiatives that advance self-determination for Aboriginal communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop dynamic and accessible data visualisations to showcase community-led justice reinvestment impacts and needs.
- Build and maintain dashboards and visual tools that aid decision-making across stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Data and Research Manager and community teams to translate data into meaningful insights.
- Ensure data products align with community priorities and adhere to Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on data visualisation best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar) and programming languages such as R or Python.
- Strong understanding of data storytelling, analytics, and visualisation design principles.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities or in culturally sensitive environments is highly regarded.
- Commitment to social justice and supporting community-led change.
- Willingness to undertake a small amount of regional travel when required.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a pioneering organisation driving systemic change to reduce incarceration rates of Aboriginal communities.
- Leave loading and salary packaging options to increase your take home pay.
- Relaxed, friendly office in leafy Redfern, with great local cafes and lunch spots.
- Flexible hybrid work, full or part time.
- Parental leave backfill until September 2025, with potential for extension.
