Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Social & Emotional Wellbeing division. Kalwun Health Service delivers a primary health care service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the Gold Coast & surrounding communities.

About the Role

We are seeking a driven Clinical Team Lead who is dedicated about improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  

The successful candidate will provide support and leadership in clinical governance, clinical supervision, and social and emotional wellbeing operation in the delivery of evidence-based, integrated models of social health practices. As part of Kalwun’s ongoing growth and development, you will be joining a community-focused team at the Coomera clinic.

Position Duties

  • Work closely with the Kalwun Social and Emotional Wellbeing Manager in relation to the development and delivery of mental health and substance misuse services.
  • Advise and provide direct input into the development and implementation of evidence-based substance misuse and mental health services for the Kalwun Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team with reference to Regional Social Health strategy, processes and policies.
  • Collaborate in the ongoing development and integration of the Social Health service delivery model within the Kalwun Clinical Model of Care
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the framework for clinical and cultural supervision of Social Health staff.
  • Provide and or facilitate access to Clinical Supervision for Kalwun Social and Emotional Wellbeing Team as needed.
  • Actively foster productive working relationships with local networks, government departments, other service providers and suppliers to promote Kalwun and remain abreast of emerging issues. 
  • Undertake reporting activities together with other relevant documentation within the scope of your role and support the Kalwun Social and Emotional Wellbeing Manager.
  • Maintain own competencies and participate in professional development programs.
  • Demonstrate leadership in Kalwun Work Health Safety goals and objectives remaining compliant with WHS Legislation and Kalwun’s policies and procedures. 

Essential Selection Criteria

  •  Minimum five years experience in similar role. 
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health services and the issues facing these organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and quality improvement and experience in implementing practical systems to facilitate development of these in a service delivery setting. 
  • Sophisticated working knowledge of substance misuse and mental health issues, conditions and services.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, confidentiality and record keeping.
  • Mandatory Qualifications/Professional Registrations and Licences
  • Bachelor of Health Services/Social Work/Social Sciences or related field 
  • Have, or provide proof of application prior to commencement, a positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card), and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant authorising body for your profession. 
  • Hold a Queensland or NSW Driver License.
