about the opportunity

We are recruiting now for several full time Multicultural Support navigator roles for a Queensland Wide ILC Social and Community Participation Grant Funding program awarded jointly to Karakan and Selectability in 2024 for a period of two years, completing in 30.06.2026.

The aim of the program is to work with and empower local organisations, community leaders, stakeholders and young people across the programs geographical footprint to better foster accessibility, inclusion, and participation of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and First Nations Youth with Psychosocial Disabilities.

The navigator roles are on the ground roles, engaging with local community cultural leaders, organisations and young people and their families to help facilitate culturally-appropriate connections and access to mainstream community supports, services and activities that enable social and economic inclusion and participation. The roles will focus in the following localities: Brisbane, Beenleigh, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Caboolture.

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Identify and create an engagement plan and strategies to engage with local CALD or FN youths incorporating community organisations, stakeholders and businesses
  • Build trust, connect and collaborate with identified/key stakeholders to ensure participation in program of cohort of CALD or FN youth.
  • Work with a case load of young people from target cohort and their families to enable successful access and participation in mainstream services and activities
  • Work with community stakeholders and young people to host and facilitate community opportunities that support inclusion and participation

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience and proven success in the following areas:

  • Engagement and support of young people in a community context
  • Working with Multicultural communities
  • Community development and/or community/stakeholder engagement responsibilities
