Learning the Macleay is a new initiative and we have 2 Community Connector positions for a minimum of 24 hours per week for 12 months and with an option to extend. These positions will be part of a Backbone Team and report to the Partnership Lead.
This is a First Peoples Identified role only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginality is a genuine requirement and is authorised by Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
The Learning the Macleay (LtM) is part of the Stronger Places, Stronger People Initiative (SPSP) is an Australian Government initiative supporting community-led systems change in partnership with 10 Australian communities and state and territory governments. The long-term goal is to disrupt disadvantage.
The objective is to demonstrate that community-led collective impact delivers better outcomes, improved wellbeing for children and their families living in communities SPSP supports. Macleay Valley is one of the communities who have been offered a SPSP partnership from the State and Australian Government.
The Community Connector uses their experience and understanding of the Macleay Valley to:
A focus of this role is to ensure the experiences, expertise and aspirations of Aboriginal community members and young people in the Macleay Valley are at the centre of the engagement work.
