Kintsugi Heroes, a not-for-profit media production company, is seeking a dedicated volunteer Podcast Production Assistant for our inspiring podcast series, “From There to Here.” This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful storytelling and gain valuable experience in podcast production.
The podcast series “From There to Here” initially focused on adversity stories faced by Australia-based immigrants and refugees, but we are now in the first stages of broadening the concept. Our aim is to share inspiring personal journeys, showcasing our guests’ transformations from one version of themselves to another.
Role Overview
As a Podcast Production Assistant, you will play a crucial role in bringing compelling personal journeys to our listeners. You’ll work closely with our podcast host and program manager, Emma Bellamy-Dodd, to ensure smooth production of each episode.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Outreach and Coordination
- Identify and reach out to potential podcast guests via LinkedIn, email, or social media platforms
- Schedule and conduct online / remote pre-interviews with guests on Riverside.fm
- Shortlist and assist podcast guests
Research and Content Preparation
- Conduct thorough background research on guests
- Prepare initial draft of conversation topics for shortlisted guests
- Prepare weekly briefing materials for the podcast host
Production Support
- Coordinate interview times and assist in pre-production of interview
- Liaise between guests and the podcast host / program manager
- Assist in organising and managing production schedules
- Coordinate partnership / sponsor outreach
- Contribute to the overall quality and consistency of the podcast
Required Skills
- Strong Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for interacting with guests and team members
- Networking / Relationship Building: Ability to establish connections and develop / maintain relationships with guests
- Organisation and Planning Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules efficiently
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using online communication technologies and ability to assist guests with their technical setup
- Research Aptitude: Skill in conducting thorough and relevant background research
Desired Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields (Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Media or Communication) are desirable, but not essential
- Proficiency with online communication, social media and podcast platforms is a plus
- Research experience, though not required, is also desirable
