We are seeking an Aboriginal leader to become Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation’s next EO.

This is an exceptional leadership role within an ACCO that provides services within Melton municipality & the surrounding areas.

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under the ‘special measures’ of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation seeks an energised Executive Officer, who will be instrumental in planning, developing, and executing community programs and building partnerships in the Aboriginal community.

Kirrip Aboriginal Corporation requires an officer that can ‘hit the ground running’ with sound knowledge of cultural & social protocols within the Indigenous communities of the urban fringes, wherein a diverse community of people reside & connect.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, this is a key role that supports Kirrip Aboriginal Corporations strategic plan to promote cultural and social participation & inclusion. This role requires a deep understanding of self-determination, sovereignty and the importance of Indigenous community development.

The Executive Officer is responsible for the daily procedures and the employment and supervision of the staff & volunteers. This role is also responsible for managing the in person & media communications with the corporation’s membership base.

The Executive Officer is responsible for the coordination of the daily operations within Kirrip House. This role requires a proven track record of successful communication and planning skills, with a strong ability to build rapport with stakeholders, colleagues and established associates. The applicant must hold an understanding of the social determinants that impact on Aboriginal communities.

THE ROLE

This role provides organisational leadership for operations and management, to the attainment of set strategic goals. Goals include, Aboriginal employment and advancement; genuine partnerships with community, and building the capacity of our clients, tenants and community.

This is an Aboriginal identified role, and the successful candidate will be asked to provide confirmation of his or her Aboriginality. (COA)

KEY OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:

  • Providing leadership through growth and change; including cultural safety, management and operation of the organisation.
  • Maximising Aboriginal participation through workforce development, leadership and talent management, and procurement.
  • Creating, implementing and maintaining high quality service standards and initiatives including the fulfilment of all statutory, regulatory and funding obligations.
  • Building effective partnerships with community, developing pathways for consultation and engagement, whilst continually responding to community challenges & needs.
  • Contributing to the operational and strategic decision-making processes and providing advice to the Board of Directors on daily operations, strategic matters and staff performance indicators.

The role is based in Melton South near the Weir views, sitting on the volcanic plains, nestled between the mountains and the ocean. Offering close access to Melbourne CBD less that 30km away; you can have the best of both worlds here.

ABOUT YOU

To thrive in this role, you will have the ability to effectively engage with Aboriginal communities; with a sound knowledge and understanding of issues impacting upon these communities.

You will also need:

  • Postgraduate &/or tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Management, Law, Justice, Finance, Health or a similarly related or transferable discipline
  • Demonstrated success and experience in building effective service performance and quality-based partnerships with regulators, funding bodies and State & Federal Government agencies.
  • Proven commercial management skills including the application of & use of, reliable & efficient funding management strategies and stipulated financial planning & reporting.
  • Demonstrated strategic vision and operations planning in the creation & implementation of projects to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Hold a solid understanding of the role of the Board, the Executive, and the management team in the leadership, management and everyday operation of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, to mentor and empower staff, and continue to build upon a positive culture of support, engagement and success.
  • Current valid Driver’s license, minimum of Class “car” or equivalent

The successful applicant will also be required to obtain a National Police Check and VIC Working with Children clearance prior to commencement.

For This position is to commence asap and is initially an annually contracted full-time position.

The Salary & Salary packaging options will be negotiated dependent upon qualifications and experience & will comply with the SCHADS award requirements.
