ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

RKKAC is an Aboriginal organisation, with approximately 400 members aged 18+. Based in Karratha, Western Australia, the organisation’s vision is to work together as a community to establish a solid foundation towards independence, community wellbeing, cultural identity, and healthy Country now and for future generations.

Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation (RRKAC) is the registered native title body corporate for Robe River Kuruma (RRK) native title determined areas.

ABOUT THE ROLE

RRKAC successfully secured funding through the North-West Aboriginal Housing Fund to deliver the Housing Pathways Support Program. The program endeavours to work with Aboriginal participant’s, to builds their capacity towards self-determination and home ownership. Utilising strength-based case management approaches and contemporary community development frameworks, the position will work with participants via individually tailored and culturally appropriate support services.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in the community services sector
  • Skilled in completing intake interviews, determining client needs, linking clients to services and maintaining communication.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
  • Demonstrate high regard for confidentiality
  • High-level problem-solving skills / analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Work effectively with and for Aboriginal people
  • Model desired workplace behaviors
  • Effectively resolve conflict
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with a spectrum of stakeholders 
  • Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain), Valid Open C Class License, pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol test, current COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

Desirable Criteria:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in similar role.
  • An operational knowledge of governmental and non-governmental agencies and service providers’ decision-making processes.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal Corporation(s) and Registered Body Corporates
  • Understanding of Aboriginal Communities within the Pilbara region
