Knowmore is about to launch a new strategic plan. Additional funding has also created an environment where several new projects are ready to begin. With this in mind we are establishing a project office, which will be led by the Project Manager. Managing a team of 2 project officers, the Project Manager will be responsible for leading key projects and supporting the rest of the organisation to adopt project management methodologies to improve our capacity to deliver outcomes and manage risks through implementation.

About knowmore

knowmore is a nation-wide independent community legal centre providing free legal information, advice, representation and referrals, financial counselling and systemic advocacy for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. Since 2022 our service has expanded to provide legal advice and financial counselling for people applying to the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme, and free legal advice for survivors of child sexual abuse that are not eligible to apply to the National Redress Scheme. We continue to provide free legal advice and financial counselling in relation to the National Redress Scheme.

knowmore uses a multidisciplinary model bringing together lawyers, intake officers, social workers and counsellors, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement advisors and financial counsellors to provide trauma-informed, client-centred and culturally safe legal assistance to clients.  Services are provided through a national phone line and face-to-face services in key locations, supported by a comprehensive program of outreach and community engagement across Australia. knowmore currently has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Allocate work throughout the team to maximise impact.
  • Support and provide guidance to project officers to deliver key projects within the set plans.
  • Work with the leadership group to help embed project management methodologies throughout the organisation.
  • Develop reporting to support key stakeholders including project updates and risk profiles.
  • Support the executive to identify key projects and priorities.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of project management tools for the organisation.
  • Support efforts towards integrated service delivery by encouraging multidisciplinary project teams wherever possible.

Project Management

The project Manager will manage key projects directly as well as supporting project officers to do the same. This involves:

  • With key stakeholders, define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Create detailed project plans, including tasks, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate project activities
  • Ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Manage resources and progress, address issues and adapt as needed.
  • Identify risks, assess their impact, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Evaluate project success, document lessons learned, and close out the project.

Communication

  • Facilitate communication among team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Use SharePoint and other systems and process to ensure there is organisation wide communication about key strategic initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, seeking feedback and involvement as required for the Board and funders.

Key Skills required for the role

  • Relevant experience in managing strategic projects.
  • Sound organisational skills, demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills, in particular the ability to lead and engage with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with demonstrated experience in influencing, engagement and negotiation.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to address challenges and find solutions.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.

Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree of higher relevant to knowmores service delivery 
  • Holding a satisfactorily National Police Records Check and a Working with Children Check. 
  • Project Management qualifications are advantageous.

Location & Hours

  • Location – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane
  • Full time hours 
  • Contract – 12 Months
