ABOUT KTF:

KTF is an Australian international aid and development organisation working in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

We work with people and communities to improve the lives and futures of Papua New Guineans. We do this by: assisting remote and rural communities with access to elementary and primary education; improving access to quality and accessible healthcare; improving equality and access to sustainable income-generation opportunities, especially for women; and by fostering the next generation of leaders.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

KTF’s Light for Learning project aims to improve lives, livelihoods and futures by providing students and communities in remote provinces of Papua New Guinea with a reliable source of clean solar lighting and power. To date, two rounds of solar installations have been completed in Oro and Western provinces from 2021-2023, with expansion planned in 2024-2025 for Madang, Morobe, and New Ireland Provinces. The project requires significant administration and coordination efforts from KTF Australia and KTF PNG. The role is heavily geared towards logistics coordination and administration and would be perfect for a passionate and enthusiastic individual with an interest in renewable energy seeking to enter the international development sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key tasks include:

  • Coordination of data collection, entry and analysis;
  • Contributing to the implementation of stronger and more streamlined administrative processes;
  • Assisting with project monitoring and evaluation activities including quarterly reporting;
  • Supporting a rigorous planning and procurement process with regular communications to ensure auditing and filing is accurate;
  • Coordination of project resources such as printing, ordering materials, equipment, supplies, food and technology;
  • Coordination of logistics for deliveries of resources and supplies;
  • Assisting with regular communications with project partners and in-field staff whilst maintaining a positive and approachable style;
  • Travel into the locations for in-person support and training across administration and implementation;
  • Assisting with human resource activities across Light for Learning project teams;
  • Ensuring onboarding follows protocols and all staff clearly understand their roles and responsibilities and policy requirements;
  • Developing the capacity of foundational skills across the team with enthusiasm and respect;
  • Assisting with staff travel and transport, logistics and rosters;
  • Liaising with in-country logistics and project coordinators to ensure the seamless delivery of activities in PNG;
  • Supporting the Program Manager and KTF staff;
  • Coordination of KTF’s project management and project lifecycle processes;
  • Supporting across other KTF projects as and when required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written;
  • Strong capability with the use of Google Suite & Microsoft office, including intermediate document and spreadsheet skills;
  • General level of technology skills (Zoom, slack, Monday etc)
  • The ability to coordinate several tasks at a time, all with competing priorities;
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, productive working environment;
  • A degree (or 2 years’ experience) in a relevant field (international development, education, project management, logistics, administration or similar);
  • A can-do attitude with fantastic problem-solving skills;
  • The ability to listen to, and appreciate different perspectives, demonstrating adaptability and care;
  • The ability to work with minimal instruction.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.

This position will require travel both domestically and internationally to PNG from time to time.

LOCATION:

KTF Head Office – Balmain, Sydney, on a hybrid working arrangement.
