The opportunity:
Reporting to the Mental Health Specialist, The Child Safeguarding Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a high standard of child safety and well-being by ensuring that safeguarding practices are robust, data is managed effectively, and incidents are handled with the utmost care and efficiency.
This role is Part time at 2 days per week (0.4 FTE)
AKKF is a remote organisation and majority of the role will be performed while WFH.
Responsibilities include:
Safety and risk guidance
- Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of potential vulnerability, developing strategies to mitigate risk and corrective actions and ensuring improvement activities are coordinated across the organisation.
- Provide child safeguarding advice to leadership and team.
- Conduct root cause analysis of complex incidents and provide remedial recommendations.
Training
- Design training programs for team, volunteers, and stakeholders on child safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ensure training is engaging and up to date with the latest best practices and legal requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and make improvements as necessary.
Policy and procedure writing
- Draft, review, and revise child safeguarding and safety policies to ensure they are comprehensive and comply with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Work closely with HR and SLT teams to ensure policies are legally sound and applicable.
- Ensure policies are communicated effectively across the organisation.
Data reporting
- Establish and maintain systems for collecting and analysing child safeguarding data.
- Maintain detailed records and reports on child safeguarding matters.
- Prepare regular reports for Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Monitor trends and emerging issues through data analysis and provide actionable insights.
Support and communication
- Act as a point of contact for child safeguarding concerns and queries within the organisation.
- Collaborate with external agencies and partners as needed
