This exciting opportunity has arisen due to national growth of our Peer Mentor Program for bereaved parents.

Peer Mentor Program:

Ladybird Care Foundation provides a Peer Mentor Program to newly bereaved parents throughout Australia. This concept sees a bereaved parent of at least 2 years, trained and connected to a newly bereaved parent for the purpose of providing empathetic support and companionship. The trained Peer Mentors develop a supportive peer relationship with a newly bereaved parent, offering empathy, guidance, and a listening ear through a series of regular catch ups, which can be online or in person depending on preferences and location of the participants. Relationships generally extend for 15 to 18 months.

The Peer Mentor Project Officer supports the Peer Mentor Program Manager. The role will include includes assisting with recruitment and selection for suitability of prospective mentors, intake of potential mentees, mentor training, matching of mentors with suitable mentees, and supervision of mentors and the mentoring relationships, transition of mentor relationships and evaluation.

Applicants must have a minimum Bachelor-level degree in human services, social work, psychology or similar, with bereavement care experience and consumer engagement highly desirable.

Some out of standard hours work will be required from time to time.

Salary commensurate with qualification and experience.
