The Private Rental Programs include PRAP, PRAP Plus and Rental Stress Support Package (RSSP). The role of Case Manager Private Rental Programs is to support renters to maintain safe, appropriate, and sustainable accommodation. These tasks include both telephone support and assistance, face to face meetings, and an outreach response to households experiencing rental stress. Providing support to achieve identified goals and assist in addressing issues that are impacting negatively on maintaining their tenancy.

Case Managers provide three differing levels of support including immediate assistance, focused support, and fixed term 13-week 1:1 case management that includes assessment, case planning, advocacy, education and case co-ordination and liaison.

The programs have various funding sources with this position funded by Consumer Affairs Victoria [CAV] in the Northeastern, Bayside and Southern Melbourne areas.

The ideal candidate is a case manager with experience working in the private rental space with people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. The role will provide a variety of services including detailed assessments, immediate support and assistance, advocacy, education, brokerage access and 1:1, up to 13-week outreach-based case management for people with multiple and complex private rental needs.

Working within the private rental suite of programs, the role will work across all funded services aimed at increasing the impact and outcomes with renters we support. Your empathy and understanding of renters experiencing rental stress and the causes of tenancy breakdowns will stand you in good stead to work alongside people to resolve issues impacting on their tenancy to enable them to sustain their private rental housing.

Your eye for detail, strong administrative skills and ability to work in a high volume and sometime complex environment will make you the ideal candidate.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (KEY SELECTION CRITERIA)

  • A valid Victorian driver’s license (mandatory).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Experience delivering case support and / or a relevant Tertiary qualification.
  • Strong knowledge or experience of the current private rental market.
  • Experience in undertaking detailed assessments with high level verbal and written communication skills.
