  • Commitment: 3-4 hours a month plus initial induction & training

About Launch Housing

Launch Housing has an ambitious and singular mission to end homelessness. We aim to get people housed, keep them housed, and be an influential voice on ending homelessness. We are a secular, independent provider of choice for clients and the 'go to' organisation on homelessness for government, media, philanthropy, private donors and the community.

Your impact on the community

We are currently seeking volunteers to provide support to young people between the ages of 16-24 who are unable to live at home.

The Mentoring Program in the Education First Youth Foyers' aims to connect students with an interested and committed adult who can help them explore their personal and professional aspirations for the future and provide them with guidance, support and encouragement in a confidential, non-judgemental, respectful manner.

Like coaches, mentors work with students through this exploration, which equips the mentee with the tools to replicate good relationships elsewhere: this is considered a major positive outcome in and of itself.

For further information on the role please refer to the position description.

About you

To be successful in this volunteer role, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • An understanding of or a commitment to learn the Advantaged Thinking approach to working with young people and commitment to the program
  • Offer a generous and positive outlook and have the ability to explore and encourage others to follow their own interests
  • Have developed relationship skills, communication skills and be knowledgeable, while being able to engage and communicate in a non-judgemental manner
  • Possess self-awareness with regard to personal strengths and weaknesses: have an ability to ask for help and support, and to set boundaries
  • Demonstrate resilience, and perseverance
