Summary of Role
The Programs Officer is a key role within AIDA’s Programs and Outcomes portfolio that works under the direction of the Programs Coordinator to support the successful delivery of key activities of AIDA’s programs, strategic projects and member services.
Key Responsibilities
The Programs Officer supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of AIDA’s projects and programs, working under limited supervision. This role involves exercising initiative and sound judgment to contribute to program success, while ensuring effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
The Programs Officer is accountable for specific project tasks and plays a key role in achieving program objectives:
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of current and historical issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- Communicate and work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- Build and maintain great relationships with internal AIDA staff, members, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Support senior staff in monitoring funding agreements and service agreements by tracking key deliverables and maintaining accurate records.
- Provide administrative support to working groups and Committees, including coordinating meetings and taking minutes.
- Coordinate and manage travel, accommodation, and catering arrangements for events and meetings, ensuring all logistics are handled efficiently, within budget and in line with AIDA’s policies.
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations, briefings, and reports by collecting information and drafting content.
- Collect and monitor program data to measure impact and make recommendations for areas for improvement.
- Identify potential risks to project delivery and report concerns to senior team members.

- Willingness to use initiative and develop problem-solving skills to achieve results in line with established practices and policies.
- Attention to detail in performing tasks and maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to work cooperatively and adaptively within a team, supporting individual and team goals.
Desirable skills
- Experience in creating and implementing educational programs or workshops, particularly those that enhance cultural safety and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis to support continuous improvement.
