The Programs Support and Volunteer Coordinator will be an integral part of the LECNA team, by forming trusting and high-quality relationships with individuals and families experiencing a range of support needs. The Programs support and Volunteer Coordinator will support a team of volunteers to deliver programs, services and referral pathways to individuals and family members to help build good alignment of strategies across all key settings in our program interventions. The Programs support and Volunteer Coordinator will also assess individual and family health, welfare, and other needs, and provide additional support and referral pathways where identified.

The Programs support and Volunteer Coordinator works with clients and community members who engage with us through a number of our programs including but not limited to Emergency Relief, Counselling Services, SPER debts, police referrals and our Lifeskills program.

The Programs support and Volunteer Coordinator provides support and training to volunteers and students working in these programs and provides a coordination role for our Emergency Relief program. It is the responsibility of this position to hold regular team meetings for volunteer groups to identify areas of training and support necessary to support day to day project outcomes.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent.
  • Experience working with volunteer and student teams
  • Proven ability to engage young people, children and families.
  • Knowledge and practice capability to work with families experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness, and housing stress.
  • Ability to collect information and report to funders and evaluators.
  • Ability to gain cooperation and to communicate both verbally and in written form with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and culture.
  • Commitment to supporting policy development and ability to develop appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Commitment to, and strong interest in, human rights and knowledge about how relevant human rights legislation can be used to advocate for clients.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and productively with co-workers
  • Proven ability to work with clients experiencing complex personal and family situations in a non-judgmental and confidential way.
  • Proven ability to develop partnerships with key agencies and service providers to identify innovative and effective ways to respond to clients’ needs.
  • High-level writing skills in relation to reports, case notes, referrals, funding applications and case studies.
  • Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
