About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Fundraising and Events Officer to join our Fundraising, Marketing and Communications team in our Brisbane Office. This is a permanent role being offered on a full-time basis and will be responsible for delivering a variety of fundraising activities and campaigns conducted by Legacy Brisbane including community events, merchandise sales, corporate events and signature campaigns such as the annual Legacy Week.

About the Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have an interest in developing a career in the for-purpose sector. They will have exceptional organisation and event management skills as well as be an amazing communicator with the ability to quickly build rapport and develop relationships. Most importantly we are looking for someone who is energetic, enthusiastic and can bring positivity to the role and team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering the community fundraising strategy which delivers profitable revenue growth from new and existing community supporters
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of Legacy merchandise campaigns including Legacy Week, Anzac Day and Remembrance Campaigns
  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing a sustainable collections program
  • Coordination of fundraising materials, merchandise and supplies, and management of storeroom
  • Assist in the delivery of Legacy Community Fundraising and peer to peer campaigns/events
  • Assisting in the coordination of fundraising volunteers
  • Engage with event participants and third-party fundraisers to provide support and encouragement for their fundraising efforts
  • Coordinate Legacy Brisbane’s support of all local and regional fundraising activities
  • Maintain accurate supporter records
  • Assist the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator in delivering Corporate events
  • Assist in facilitating the Emerging Leaders Network
  • Manage the fundraising inbox and respond to enquiries in a timely fashion (within 2 business days of email);
  • Help to develop campaign and event schedules using Microsoft Planner

Essential requirements

  • Fundraising skills: 1+ year experience in fundraising and the non-profit sector and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability in event and/or project management including strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to problem solve and exercise initiative in busy and quiet periods
  • Ability to develop and maintain existing relationships with donors, supporters and volunteers in a variety of age demographics
  • Understanding of computer programs and fundraising data base
  • Current QLD drivers’ licence
  • Fit and able to meet the manual handling requirements of the role

Highly Regarded

  • Experience from a large NFP, Charity or Membership-based organisation
  • Tertiary level qualifications in a related discipline e.g. marketing, event management
  • Experience in assisting to deliver large scale events
  • Ability to present to Community Groups and Schools on behalf of Legacy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Programs
