About the role

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Practice Excellence, Child, Youth & Family (CYF) you will lead a dedicated team of professionals providing practice-based coaching, support and professional learning to continually improve the quality of practice across the breadth of programs. Informed by the CARE model, the Practice Manager will play a critical role in implementing evidence-informed practice across child, youth and family programs in NSW.

The role is a member of the CYF Centre for Practice Excellence Leadership Team and the NSW State Leadership Team. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the organisation in continuously improving practice to impact client outcomes. You will utilise good learning outcomes to improve the capability of our workforce to ensure we deliver “Great Services through great practice”

This is a permanent full time, location either Newcastle or Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the improvement of service quality and consistency through continuous practice improvement
  • Implementation of evidence-informed practice
  • Provide expert practice advice to family based and intensive therapeutic care practitioners to assist in identifying and delivering best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Develop, implement and embed services that are flexible, individualised and competitive in the market whilst also being efficient. 
  • Conduct or lead case reviews or contribute to investigations on more serious matters.
  • Participate in service / tender development for new or extended CYF services.
  • Represent the CYF Directorate on the Client Death Review Panel and be responsible for ensuring that recommended practice changes are implemented.
  • Provide reflective practice and reflective supervision and support that builds the emotional competence and technical skill of team members, to deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and their families and carers.

Skills & Experience

  • Post-graduate qualification in social work, psychology, or a relevant human service area, eligible for membership to a relevant professional association or relevant experience.
  • Experience in leading and implementing evidence-informed practice
  • Current drivers’ licence.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership and management experience, skills, and knowledge in child protection/out of home care services / family support and preservation
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory environment for NSW CYF. 
  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership and support to a multidisciplinary team to achieve objectives, including quality improvement strategies.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
