ABOUT US

Lighthouse Foundation offers an integrated therapeutic model of care for homeless children and young people who predominantly come from a background of long-term neglect and abuse. Our people are dedicated to making a change in our children and young people's lives.

At Lighthouse we believe that every child or young person is one caring adult away from being a success story. In a Lighthouse home, children, young people and families are supported by Therapeutic Carers as well as specialist services including case management and psychological support.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will provide clinical support and governance to Lighthouse young people and staff, specifically:

  • Providing reflective practice to therapeutic carers via individual and group supervision.
  • Providing therapeutic and trauma informed interventions to carers responding to children expressing trauma.
  • Psychological assessments and reports.
  • Program development.
  • Providing therapeutic and psycho-educational group programs.
  • Providing psychotherapy, child-focussed parent/carer sessions, Family Therapy.
  • Providing clinical input at care team meetings.
  • Consulting on the development and maintenance of young peoples’ therapeutic program

This role will also require the clinician to produce detailed case studies, reports/papers and contribute to research in consultation with the Manager of Clinical Services and the Lighthouse Institute.

This role provides the opportunity to be part of Lighthouse Foundation’s Hub Home model, supporting Lighthouse programs that specialise in providing therapeutic care to children, young people and families across Melbourne.

Lighthouse has two Hub Homes across Melbourne, and this opportunity is based in Southern Melbourne, a central place of support and community connection for children, young people and their carers. It is a place where they can come together as a community, to receive therapeutic supports or respite care with trained therapeutic staff.

The Hub acts as a ‘home away from home’ and creates a ‘village’ of extended support for each child, allowing them to develop positive, healthy attachments with adults who care about their safety and wellbeing. The Hub facilitates regular social activities for carers, families and local volunteers to connect, reflect and share their experiences together. Lighthouse believes this strong sense of community will help to improve the overall stability in placements, continuity in care, and carers quality, tangible support they need to thrive.
