Lirata Ltd (www.lirata.com) is an independent not-for-profit organisation based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. We are a ‘social justice multiplier’ – we magnify the efforts of the many organisations and individuals working for positive change.

We operate as a social enterprise, delivering our work through consultancy, capacity building and systems advocacy. We specialise in the health, community services, education and international development sectors. We partner with all tiers of government, service providers, peak bodies, advocacy organisations, socially engaged businesses and many others to assist them to:

About the positions

Lirata’s consultants are at the core of our work. The Consultant will work as a member of multiple project teams to scope, plan and deliver high quality consultancy services while the Senior Consultant will provide leadership for the consulting team, in addition to leading consulting projects, and leading capacity building work.

The main focus of both roles will be on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), assisting organisations to assess and improve their processes and their effectiveness in achieving positive social justice outcomes for communities. Both consultants will have substantial experience in MEL. You will design projects, including developing ethical, technically sound, fit for purpose MEL methodologies and frameworks, and engage with stakeholder from our partner organisations.

Both Consultants will also have opportunities to contribute to other areas of Lirata’s work which aim to strengthen people and organisations, including leadership and organisational development, and training and mentoring to build individual and organisational capacity.

Your work will contribute directly to building capacity for positive social change.

About you

You have a long-standing personal commitment to social justice. You have a strong collaborative approach and outstanding people and communication skills, which enable you to work well with diverse stakeholders around challenging topics.

You have excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of MEL, and strong existing skills in developing logic models, theories of change, MEL Frameworks and MEL project plans. You are an experienced project manager and have successfully completed MEL projects in a range of contexts. You have strong skills in designing research methods, collecting and analysing data, and writing clear, high-quality reports to the standard expected for professional research outputs.

You have the capacity to work on multiple projects concurrently, and to meet project deliverables in a timely way and with outstanding quality. You work efficiently, with high levels of initiative, ethics, focus, and personal organisation.

For the Senior Consultant role, you are skilled and experienced leading people, as well as complex projects. You also have the capacity to contribute to the growth and development of our consulting work.

You are resilient and flexible, able to adapt in the face of challenges and persist to achieve long-term goals.

Work arrangements and location

Standard work hours are 9.00am – 5.00pm, however, we can accommodate flexible working arrangements. The positions will involve a mix of work from home, and office-based work and may require some regional and interstate travel.

We have strong communication systems, frequent all-staff check-ins, and regular supervision to ensure that all staff feel connected and supported.

Although our preference is to appoint someone who lives in the Naarm (Greater Melbourne) region, we are also open to appointing an outstanding candidate who lives in regional Victoria or interstate.
