The Strong Community – Aboriginal Resilient Kids program has been designed to support Aboriginal children and young people aged from 8-18 years in the Northern Rivers region who have been impacted by the devastating flood events of 2022. The program will provide Culturally Sensitive Youth Mental Health Support and Case management with a flexible approach to clinical intervention, offering primarily face-to-face, placed-based services or via assertive/mobile community outreach.

Your Opportunity

The role will involve significant travel, offering outreach services to young Aboriginal people. You will manage a clinical caseload, provide consultation and linkage to other services, and engage with local communities to increase program awareness.

Our office is based in Lismore, but we encourage Clinicians located in the Clarence Valley to apply as this area has been identified as one of our priority locations.

This is a full time, fixed term opportunity for 12 months (with possible extension). The position pays between $85,000 and $100,000 depending on experience. Lives Lived Well also offer excellent Salary Packaging options up to $15,900 per year, plus Entertainment and Accommodation benefits.

About You

Whether you have an established career or are a new Graduate, you will be excited to work in the youth mental health sector supporting Indigenous communities, be proactive and dedicated, and looking for your next exciting challenge. Your ability to think on your feet and work effectively in a dynamic, agile environment will be coupled with:

• Experience in caseload management and providing recovery-orientated clinical care
• A background working with children and young people (from 8 to 18) – especially those under age 12
• Delivery of evidence-based interventions in the areas of youth mental health via group or individual counselling
• Being confident and at ease working within Indigenous communities, and emergency accommodation environments
• Great driving skills and a high level of comfort with daily travel and working independently
• Experience in community engagement – this role will see you actively promoting the service to young people, families and other service providers
• Ability to relate to young Aboriginal people in a relevant, youth-friendly, and appropriate manner
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and capability to present at team meetings and case reviews
• Strong computer skills including use of a CRM, uploading case notes and client documentation
• Highly collaborative, solutions-focused and passionate about process improvements – we welcome ideas and suggestions to make things better

Holding a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or Counselling, Community Services, Human Services, or similar you will also have a current, clean Australian Drivers Licence and be eligible for a WWCC (NSW).
