About Us

The Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA), established in 1962, is a nationally recognised service provider with over 1,000 members, 400+ initiatives and events, and a staff of over 40. It serves diverse communities across NSW, operates three mosques, and partners with various stakeholders. The LMA is best known for managing Lakemba Mosque, one of Australia's largest mosques, hosting thousands weekly and over 100,000 during major events. Continuously expanding into new sectors and online platforms, the LMA aims to build a resilient Australian Muslim Community, addressing contemporary challenges with a strong sense of history and purpose.

Role Overview:

The Project Officer/Case Worker is passionate about making a difference in the community and connecting with those who have undergone hardship and difficulty.

The role will require the successful applicant to:

  • Conduct initial intake of clients and client assessments to identify needs and develop personalised action plans.
  • Provide ongoing support and advocacy for clients.
  • Maintain detailed case records and documentation.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders, other service providers, and partake in interagency meetings.

Project Support:

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and other project documentation as required.
  • Maintain project files and databases.

skills and experience:

  • Candidate is required to be fluent in both Arabic and English.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Palestinian, Muslim, and Arabic speaking community is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities is highly desirable.
