Lord Somers Camp and Power House is a small organisation with a big vision – to create a stronger, more inclusive society through service to others. Our services include many life-changing camps, programs and activities run at our Power House Headquarters located next to Albert Park Lake, our beautiful campsite in Somers on the Mornington Peninsula and all across Victoria.

We’re governed by an experienced board, managed by a small and dynamic team and supported by a network of 1,400 members and volunteers. The philanthropic support from trusts and foundations and partnerships with organisations is crucial to running many of our community-based programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Operations Manager provides leadership to event admin staff and is the main point of contact for volunteer leaders. They also provide direct support to the CEO in support of volunteer led events & programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Provide volunteer leaders operational support so their efforts are dedicated to delivering quality programs
  • Be the conduit between volunteers and program committees into the office to then transfer clear direction to event administration staff
  • Monitor event administration staff and give support so events are adequately supported in a timely manner
  • Ensure the office is performing to its best with adequate supply and support
  • Coordination, preparation and minutes of meetings and events facilitated by the CEO.
  • Secretarial support for the Board and certain Board Committees, including meeting coordination, preparation and distribution of board papers, and minute taking.
  • Coordination and delivery of the Annual General Meeting including the coordination of Board elections.
  • General administrative duties and program support for the Leadership Team, as required and particularly during busy periods such as the lead up to major events.
  • Performing any other duties required by the CEO, having regard to your skills, training and experience.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Excellent inter-personal skills, with the ability to quickly develop rapport with people of all abilities, backgrounds and seniority.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including drafting of correspondence and note/minute taking.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Initiative, within the boundaries of your role, and a can-do attitude, helpfulness, and the flexibility to change priorities when needed.
  • Strong computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

  • A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and young people, including those with diverse needs and/or backgrounds.
  • Experience working or volunteering for community or for-purpose organisations.
  • An understanding of data management process and/or systems

The EA & Operations Coordinator reports to the CEO, and also supports the Leadership Team and the Board.
