We offer a range of housing supports including crisis accommodation, long-term and affordable housing. The Client Housing Worker uses their outstanding interpersonal skills to work sensitively and effectively with a broad range of clients and their families who often have complex and multiple barriers to accessing and sustaining housing.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Client Housing Worker to join our Beenleigh based team. Working from a person centred, trauma informed framework our focus is always on meeting the unique needs and goals of each individual, enabling them to make positive and lasting changes within their lives.

Client Housing Workers undertake a range of tenancy support, community assistance referral and property management activities which support and facilitate sustainable tenancies for our clients. We are looking for someone who works collaboratively, demonstrates empathy and resilience, and who will contribute positively to our supportive workplace culture. Prior community housing and/or community support services experience will be highly regarded.

The role is based at our Beenleigh office, however the role includes regular travel throughout Brisbane, Logan and the Redlands regions.

As a Client Housing Worker, some of the ways you will spend your day include:

  • engaging clients through participation processes and support plans
  • providing tenants with access/referrals to resources and appropriate support services
  • assisting clients to resolve/navigate a range of issues of personal, tenancy and property issues
  • completing property inspections and scheduling property maintenance
  • identifying and effectively managing tenancy breaches
  • applying and working within legislative and regulatory requirements
  • participating in organisational meetings and improvement activities

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • the ability to plan, coordinate and implement case management plans for a wide range of clients
  • outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to work sensitively and effectively with a diverse range of clients
  • a strong understanding of trauma informed practice
  • the ability to interpret and apply legislation
  • ability to undertake property inspections, arrange maintenance services and ensure compliance with tenancy legislation
  • the ability to make effective, evidence based decisions
  • well-developed written and verbal communication skills

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • SC1 - Demonstrated experience in a community housing or community support / human services environment.
  • SC2 - Demonstrated high level communication skills including the ability to rapidly build rapport and effectively engage with clients, support service providers, contractors, stakeholders and broader community members.
  • SC3 - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce well- articulated, professional and sensitive file notes and correspondence.
  • SC4 - Demonstrated case management or similar framework experience within a human services setting.
  • SC5 - Tertiary or vocational qualifications in a relevant discipline.

Note: Possessing and maintaining a current driver's licence and having access to your own reliable vehicle is an essential requirement of this position.
