The opportunity

Mangrove Housing is looking for a specialist Housing Support Worker (part time or casual) to join us in an exciting new phase. We have recently expanded our service delivery stream to include specialist homelessness services and this position will be based at a new temporary accommodation site in Redland Bay.

In this role you will support clients who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness into their new temporary supported accommodation, working alongside them to provide high quality strengths based case management.

Housing Support Workers assist clients to overcome barriers and achieve their goals in a safe and secure environment. Working from a person centred, trauma informed framework our focus is always on meeting the unique needs and goals of each individual, assisting them to make positive and lasting changes within their lives.

A key outcome of the role is to assist clients to access safe, affordable, and sustainable housing outcomes.

All about you

You have a background and passion for working with people in the housing and homelessness space and have a housing first approach to service delivery.

To be considered for the position you must be able to address the essential criteria below:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in related discipline, diploma level or higher and/or relevant sector experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in holistic case management that is client-centred, including a strong focus on customer service and the ability to treat clients with respect and compassion
  • Experience working in accordance with person centred and trauma informed practice principles
  • Demonstrated understanding of client vulnerabilities such as domestic and family violence, drug and alcohol use, and mental health.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to work within relevant legislation and guidelines relating to the provision of specialist homelessness services
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining professional boundaries
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (2+ doses is required)

Before commencing work with us, you will be required to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people (Blue Card).
