The Opportunity

Maribyrnong City Council are looking for a dynamic program leader to join our Community Care team.

The Social Support and Respite Group Leader will plan, lead and deliver safe, supported and enjoyable social activities to support and enhance the independence, health, wellbeing and socialisation of older community members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver program activities in consultation with clients, carers and staff to meet the goals of service participants and program objectives.
  • Undertake service level assessment and planning for program participants to identify, record and plan for their goals, needs, risks and preferences.
  • Monitor, identify and respond to risks and the changing needs of service participants.
  • Ensure the timely recording of client information and case notes.
  • Work collaboratively with internal council stakeholders to plan and deliver services that connect participants to the community and council facilities, resources and events.
  • Work collaboratively with service participants, family, carers and internal and external support services to connect service participants with supports that meet their needs.
  • Plan for availability and provision of required resources to run the planned activities, including meals.
  • Provide direction, leadership and support to Social Support Assistants, in consultation with the Community Care Team Leader.
  • The incumbent of this position may be directed to carry out such duties as are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • Qualification in community services, care services or other relevant discipline or several years' experience in the care services industry.
  • Skills in coordinating programs to meet the needs of participants with physical and cognitive support needs.
  • Skills in planning, costing and resourcing program activities in line with organisational requirements.
  • Skills in leading and supporting staff to deliver high-quality programs and activities.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check
