Martumili's manager is taking a 12 month break and we are now recruiting for a manager on a 14 month contract! We are looking for a confident, experienced arts administrator to lead the Martumili team to new heights in 2024. If you have extensive experience in the arts industry, and the capacity to manage teams, deliver programs and work in an intercultural setting, we would love to hear from you! Martumili Artists is a not-for profit art centre that was established by Martu people living in the communities of Parnpajinya (Newman), Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu, Kunawarritji, Irrungadji and Warralong.
The artists and their families are the traditional custodians of vast stretches of the Great Sandy, Little Sandy and Gibson Deserts as well as the Karlamilyi (Rudall River) area.
Martumili Artists is an activity of the Shire of East Pilbara, and is based in the East Pilbara Arts Centre in Newman, with artists working in the 6 other remote East Pilbara communities.
In consultation with Martu artists, the Manager will implement Martumili Artists’ vision by leading a high quality, creative and cultural enterprise. This leadership position has overall responsibility for Martumili’s strategic direction, financial security and operational function, including liaison with 'Wangka Lampa Kujungka' (the Martu advisory group). Responsibility also includes the provision of specialist advice to all levels of the organisation regarding Martumili.
