About

The Creative Lead will ensure the development and execution of high-quality creative programmes that reflect the artistic needs and aspirations of culturally diverse artists, in line with resources allocated. Drawing on expertise and skills in creative producing, co-designing, facilitating programs with Victoria’s culturally diverse communities and the arts sector, the Creative Lead will ensure quality and the artist experience are central to bold and compelling work across the state.

What we offer

  • Full time 1.0 FTE / 38 hours a week
  • $73,000 pro rata per year. Plus 11.5% superannuation contributions, and generous salary packaging

Major Tasks

  • Deliver of key program initiatives in alignment with MAV’s strategic plan, by;
  • Delivering programming objectives that reflect MAV's vision, values, and mission.
  • Observing the highest standards of cultural and artistic programming, artist care, knowledge of Land-based practices.
  • Co-ordinating and managing creative developments.
  • Auspicing as required by the Artist Services Manager.
  • Identifying opportunities for capacity building with the Artist Services Manager.
  • Ensuring best practices in program co-design, participation and delivery.
  • Maximising resources and pursuing revenue opportunities, including but not limited to funding, sponsorship, grants and philanthropic opportunities.
  • Designing practices that promote transformation, innovation and change.
  • Building strategic partnerships that enhance artist experiences and increase engagement.
  • Supervising production and ensuring compliance.
  • Provide accountability and transparency to creatives to uphold trust in MAV.
  • Working with the Communications and Development Manager to develop exemplary, artist-led marketing and communications;
  • Monitoring, evaluating and acquitting relevant funding agreements and ensuring expectations of funders are met; supporting with processes to report to the MAV Board.
  • Working within budgets and resources, ensuring sound financial processes.
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with all stakeholders to build and improve impact.
  • Facilitating support for the artist & community sector development program, where required, through additional funding applications and opportunities.
  • Seeking strategic pathways that promote MAV programs on a National and International stage.
  • Additional and ad hoc responsibilities including some out of hours work, for example supporting the Artists Services to deliver a calendar of creative workshops and events, services, developments or networking opportunities as identified by the CEO and Artist Services Manager.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to culturally diverse communities and creatives of colour;
  • Demonstrated ability in producing transformative creative programs.
  • Understanding of arts sector and the cultural industries, community engagement practices;
  • Knowledge and understanding of culturally responsive practices
  • Strong skills in networking, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated skills in the documenting, evaluation and reporting on projects and programs;
  • Ability to work closely with key stakeholders while upholding trust and transparency;
  • Demonstrated record of excellent project and budget management processes
  • Experience with revenue generation and grantwriting
  • Knowledge of navigating priorities within set timeframes;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level written and oral communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Current driver’s license
  • Working with Children Check
  • Theatre Production or Music Production Skills
  • Work with auspicing or grant writing

Qualifications:

Completion of relevant tertiary education and/or relevant lived experience with proven track record involving working with diverse artists and communities.
